Weekend update

After a string of days with rainy, cold weather, we finally had some sunshine this past weekend. Polo and I were minding the store, working at the gallery, but were also able to paint so it was a very productive weekend. We so enjoyed the company of our 3 featured artists, Eli Cedrone, Diane Scotti, and George Mitchell, Jr. There was good, steady traffic from the college Lacrosse finals and also the before and after dinner crowds.. Here are a few photos from the weekend.

Stop by this weekend and visit Frank Quinn as he minds the store over the long Memorial Day weekend. Welcome summer!

Frank Quinn Hosting Memorial Day Weekend

Frank Quinn will be manning the "Artist's Studio and Gallery at Patriot Place" on Memorial Day weekend. There are no featured artists signed up for this holiday weekend, so Frank will be all alone and hopes to finally do some painting. He invites other artists who, like him, have nothing better to do this weekend, and join him in the studio for a painting marathon. The Artist's Studio & Gallery is located between "Skipjack's" and "Tastings" at the cinema-end of Patriot Place.

Eli Cedrone Thinks The Rain Will Stop This Weekend

Eli Cedron has decided to withdraw from the gallery this weekend because of her mistaken belief that it will stop raining. Nonsense. In any event, the featured artists this weekend (May 20-22) will be artists Dianne Scotti and George Mitchell Jr. (pictured above), along with the six other accomplished artists. Our hours are Friday 5-9, Saturday 1-9, and Sunday 11-6. If you are in the neighbordood, feel free to come in [out of the rain] and view some spectacular art.

2 Featured Artists To Return For 2d Week

Eli Cedrone and George Mitchell Jr., two of our featured artists this past weekend, have decided to stay at the Studio & Gallery at Patriot Place for a second consecutive week. Our own Ellen Little, our third featured artist, who also had a successful showing, will make room this weekend (May 20-22) for Dianne Scotti. Each weekend the foot traffic seems to increase and we continue to receive compliments on the quality of art on display. If you are interested in being a featured artist some weekend, contact Frank Quinn at fxquinn@yahoo.com

Another Magical Moment

Quite a few people visited the Artist's Studio and Gallery at Patriot Place this past weekend. But I have to say the biggest smile was on the face of a little girl who was visiting with her mother. The girl had walked around the gallery stopping to watch each of the Featured Artists paint. When she reached the easel of Aivars Zandbergs, who was painting a scene from his home country of Latvia, she looked up at him and said with the most sincere voice, "I really like your painting."

Aivars smiled, said "Thank you!" and then reached down and handed the little girl a small painting I had watched him work on earlier in the day. He even signed it for her. The young girl left the gallery on Sunday with the biggest smile on her face clutching her precious gift.

Fun, Relaxing & Enjoyable

The Artist's Studio and Gallery at Patriot Place (across from Life is Good and Game Stop) is a place for all to enjoy.

We had fun this past Friday night with a lot of great artists stopping in to say hello, wish all of us at the art gallery well, and schedule time to join us for a weekend or two.

But one scene from this weekend past was truly special. A group of young girls were watching two of the artists paint. Frank was painting a North End Boston scene outside the gallery and Ann was just inside the door using her knife to paint a floral arrangement. The girls really enjoyed watching the two artists. They asked a lot of questions and for a few minutes had forgotten about shopping and all the other things a young girl's brain is filled with. And then one of the girls asked, "What does it feel like to paint something so beautiful?" That is when Frank handed her the brush.

That's what the Artist's Studio and Gallery at Patriot Place is all about; a place for people of all ages to have fun, relax and enjoy.

Opening Weekend Successful (and Fun)

The "Art Gallery & Studio at Patriot Place" opened sucessfully this past weekend, with lots of fellow artists visiting the new gallery and sizing up the spaces they might occupy on some future weekend. There will be room for three "featured artists" every weekend, although the opening came so fast that only one featured artist, Tiago Finato, could be accomodated this past weekend. But next weekend (May 6-8) will feature Karole Nicholson, Ann Bridge and Aivars Zandbergs as our featured artists. Jack Gannon, the gallery's organizer, said he was really pleased with the "look" of the gallery and was very grateful to the Patriot Place management for helping make this all possible. Anyone interested in displaying their work should contact Frank Quinn at fxquinn@yahoo.com.
