Foxboro Art Assn Fall Show
For the first two weekends in October, the Gallery exhibited the annual Fall Members Show of the Foxboro Art Association. 111 pieces of terrific art by 56 members of the Art Association were displayed in 4 different media and ribbons were awarded in each category by guest judge Carole Berren. The "Best in Show" ribbon was awarded to Donna MacLure or her watercolor titled "Tangled", as pictured below.
Before the ribbons were awarded, however -- during the first weekend -- the public was invited to vote for their favorite piece (the "People's Choice" award). And, in all, 194 votes were cast by members of the public. The decisive choice was artist Laura Zanghetti for her painting titled "Shoe Shopping" (pictured below). The second weekend was capped with a Saturday afternoon reception as crowds of art lovers streamed through the gallery. At the end of the second weekend, the show comes down to be replaced by the returning anchor artists plus two guest artists for the 3d weekend in October, Pat Buckley and Marjorie Sardella. If you are in the neighborhood stop by and treat yourself to beautiful art work.

Paintout Sep. 29
We are having another Paint Out
outside our gallery at Patriot Place – maybe our last one until the Spring. If
you missed our last Paint Out, you won't want to miss this one. Mark your
calendar for Saturday September 29th 1pm to 5pm (rain date is Saturday
October 6th same time). What is a Paint Out? A group of artists
coming together to paint outdoors. It is free for both the artists and the
spectators. At our last two Paint Outs (March & June) we had approximately
30 artists and hundreds of spectators. If you bring an easel you may want to bring an empty gallon jug too, which you can fill with water at the gallery, to weigh down your easel in case it gets windy. Our art gallery is
located two doors down from Dunkin Donuts near Davio’s, Bar Louie’s, Skipjack’s,
and Tastings. Spread the word and tell your friends about this fun event. And if it rains, we will do it the following Saturday.

Irish Paintout Successful
Massive crowds streamed through the Gallery during the Irish Festival held at Patriot Place on Saturday, St. Patrick's Day. More than a dozen artists painted inside and outside, helping entertain the crowds as foot-stomping Irish music played in the background. A major attraction was Steve Gaul, a popular guest artist at the Gallery, and 3 of his colleagues from SNAC: Southern New England Artist Community. They are Corey Ritch,Charlie Robinson and Scott Francoeur. All four set up shop accross from the gallery and proceeded to sculpt and paint larger-than-life creations -- perfect for drawing a crowd. (Unfortunately we have no pictures of them.) Other artists included Sarah Feragen, Rosemarie Doherty, Mari Connors, Ellen Little, Pat Buckley, Adam Czachorowski, Ralph Calderwood, George Ransom, Vania Noverca Viveiros, Haydi Hurley and Frank Quinn. Photographers Steve Cross, Jerry Crawford and Jack Gannon also participated. It was cooler than expected, but a fun day nevertheless.

Irish Festival at Patriot Place March 17
On Saturday March 17 Patriot Place will let artists use the empty store (which used to be the Apple Tech Store before it moved across the way) kitty corner across from Davio's and Verizon during its Irish Festival. This means we can have our "paintout" regardless of the weather. On a nice day we can also be outside, anywhere between the empty store and the gallery, provided we don't block any store entrances. Patriot Place would like us to also display any Irish art. Patriot Place invites all artists to join them for what is always a fun day. And don't forget to drop by the Gallery at Patriot Place and view the Foxboro Art Association Spring Members' Show.

Irish Festival at Patriot Place March 17
St. Patrick's Day is Saturday, March 17, and once again Patriot Place has invited all of us to join in on their Irish Festival celebration. Space is limited within the art gallery with our Foxboro Art Association Members Show in March, but hopefully the luck of the Irish will bring us good weather. If so artists can bring a table and their Irish artwork to Patriot Place. Or if you just want to come and paint outside the art gallery at Patriot Place that day, weather permitting, you are more than welcome to do so.
